Callander mid-May update
Callander for climate change is helping individuals and families in the town to reduce their carbon footprints through energy efficiency, microrenewables and greener food and consumption choices.
A 'footprint festival' was held in mid-May, at which the town's carbon footprint, calculated by Climate Futures, was presented.
It is: 26,223 tonnes of CO2 - for households and public buildings. We also calculated how this varies from the national average and how it breaks down by household type.
A personal profile design has also been designed by us and is being used to engage people with their own footprints (www.callanderandclimatechange.org.uk/footprint).
The project vision is to sign up the whole community to achieve a 4% reduction in their carbon emissions each year from 2011 onwards, and aim for deliver emissions savings of 60% by 2025. 120 people signed up to the Energy Saving Trust Home Energy Check (HEC), and are already actively reducing emissions through energy efficiency measures.
