Durham Country Cricket Club

July 2008-ongoing

This cricket club recognises its environmental impact and aims to do all it can to reduce it. It has also been encouraged by sponsors, including Northumbrian Water, to measure and manage its carbon footprint.

Over 200,000 people visit the ground annually.

A carbon footprint has been calculated by Climate Futures. This includes energy at the ground, stand and corporate visitors, tours, business and commuting travel.

Using these findings, a carbon management plan is being undertaken. Partners, TNEI, are advising on energy reduction and renewables at the new stand and hotel complex on-site. A green travel plan is being developed. A carbon offset programme, for corporate visitors, is being considered.

Durham County Cricket Club won the English Counties trophy in 2008.
