Carbon balancing
CarbonNeutral Newcastle established the first regional carbon balancing (and offset referral) scheme in the world.Carbon balancing was delivered through the ‘Warm Zone’ scheme, which provides insulation for low-income and local authority homes in disadvantaged city areas. With their homes insulated, people require less energy to heat their houses (better for the environment) and also save money on their fuel bills (better for them).
CarbonNeutral is the point at which the emissions from an activity or series of activities have been assessed, reduced (where possible) and then the remaining emissions offset through investments in overseas renewable energy, energy efficiency or forestry projects.
