Fife Diet

The Fife Diet encourages people to eat local, seasonal and organic, from the immediate area where possible. It takes a pragmatic view about sourcing food from further afield, and helps educate people about the impact of food miles and unseasonal produce. It is also working with local communities to grow food locally in market gardens and allotments.

Run by Karen and Mike Small, parents of two, it has attracted wide media coverage including the Guardian, Radio 4s Food Programme and the BBC.

The Fife Diet was awarded a six figure sum from the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund to sign up 1500 members, develop community gardens and educate as widely as possible.

Climate Futures is calculating the carbon baseline of the membership, helping create a communication strategy and marketing messages. We are delighted that this will be a long term collaboration.
